Another season, another change and this time ‘The Little Red Fox Espresso‘ will be playing host to a mixed collection of canvas and linocuts by the incredible ‘Sasha Constable‘ & Constable Gallery at Large!
British artist Sasha Constable has lived and worked in Cambodia since 2000. Initially invited as artist in residence for the World Monuments Fund she then moved back into education, setting up numerous projects and workshops for university students and disadvantaged children.
Sasha has been an active participator in the developing contemporary art scene in Cambodia. Over the past ten years she has managed a gallery and curated exhibitions at Hotel de la Paix, which launched the careers of a number of young contemporary Cambodian artists.
She has also been very involved in the ‘Peace Art’
movement having coordinated two large-scale peace art projects in 2003-2004 and 2007; these projects transformed destroyed weapons of war into sculptural expressions of peace. Three monuments can be seen sited in public parks in Phnom Penh, Battambang and Kompong Thom and her monument dedicated to Deminers is situated in the HALO Trust compound in Siem Reap.
Sasha comes from a long line of Constable artist’s dating back to her ancestor John Constable, a British landscape artist (1776-1837). Sasha is a sculptor, painter and print maker, she specializes in stone carving and block print making as well as recently focusing on painting with acrylic.
The ‘CONSTABLE Exhibition’ launches on the 8th of April and will continually change and evolve throughout the coming months showcasing the very best of Sasha Constables work. ‘The Little Red Fox Espresso’ is incredibly proud to host this exhibition and look forward to welcoming you to both levels of our cafe as you enjoy your viewing time with a damn good cup of coffee.
